Installing the DraftKings Sportsbook App
DraftKings is most famous for their DFS product but they’ve had an online sportsbook since 2018. Their app is the fastest way to get into the action and manage your bets. To get started the first thing you’ll need to do is download the app. Click here to get started. You can find the DraftKings app in the Apple App Store. Android users won’t find the DraftKings app in Google Play because DraftKings only has one app and doesn’t have individual sportsbook apps for each state where online gambling is allowed. This means you must download and manually install the sportsbook app directly from DraftKings. The app has been scanned and we’ve placed bets at DraftKings using the app and found that its safe and doesn’t require any unnecessary permissions.
Once installed you’ll find that you’ll be able to place bets on all the same sports and events you see on the full computer website. The app is easy to navigate with the Sportsbook link at the top left side. You’ll also find links to the DraftKings Casino, Pools, a social feed and, of course, DFS along the top of the app screen. Below the navigation bar you’ll find slides featuring current promos and special events. Below that you’ll find Quick Links to sports and leagues with events for betting and a feed of currently live events. Along the bottom you’ll find links to live events, your betslip, and a link to all available sports and promos at DraftKings.
Signing up at DraftKings
After installing the app you’ll need to sign up your account at DraftKings. When the app launches the first time you’ll be prompted to sign in with your existing DraftKings account. If you don’t have one, tap on Sign Up to create your account. First, you’ll choose your username and password and agree to the terms and conditions at DraftKings. Tap Next to proceed to the next screen, where you’ll enter your name, birth date and the last 4 digits of your SSN.
On the last screen your account info will be verified electronically. If there are any issues with verifying your account info you will be presented with the option to take a photo of your ID to validate your registration info.
DraftKings Sportsbook Locations
Online sports betting is different from daily fantasy sports because of the regulations that govern each. Online sports betting is more highly regulated and is only legal in 11 states. Because of this the DraftKings app requires precise GPS location when using the app. The app will request location priviliges when you first launch the app and it will check your location after you sign in the first time. In order to place a bet you must be physically located in each of the states where online sports betting is legal:
- Colorado
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Iowa
- Michigan
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- Pennsylvania
- Tennessee
- Virginia
- West Virginia
If you cannot be verified to be located in any of these states you will not be allowed to place any bets at the Sportsbook. You can still view events and the details for each game but any attempt to place a bet will be blocked. You’ll be allowed to deposit to your account if you’re not located in any of the 11 states where DraftKings is available but you have to tap Deposit Anyway after being notified that you’re located in an ineligible state.
Placing Bets at DraftKings Sportsbook
Tap on the All Sports button and you’ll find an alphabetical list of all of the sports and leagues available to bet on at DraftKings. There you’ll find Australian Rules Football, Baseball, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, Football, Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, MMA, Motorsports, Rugby, Soccer, Table Tennis and Tennis.
NFL games are the biggest draw, and you can even bet on preseason games. In addition to events you can bet on the NFL draft, futures and player props. You’ll find the usual, familiar bets:
- Spreads
- Totals
- Moneylines
- Parlays
- Teasers
- Quarters or halves
Live, in-game bets are available. Those currently live events can be found on the main screen of the app or you can find a list of live events by tapping on the In-Game button at the bottom of the app screen. Events are grouped by sport or league that can be expanded or collapsed.
To make a bet, tap on the event you want to bet on. If the event is live you’ll see the lines, totals and spread updates every few seconds. To get in on the action, tap on the line, spread or total you want to bet on. The most popular bets are moneyline, spread and total points, and you’ll see these numbers on the main event screen. If the the game is in the first half you’ll see numbers for the entire game and for the first half. After half time the only numbers you’ll see are the spread, line and totals for the remaining half. Tap on the bet you want to place, enter your wager. Confirm your bet then tap on eat the Detroit Lions. For simple bets like these, simply enter the amount of money you want to bet. The app will calculate the amount to win and the potential payout. Tap on Place Bet to add the bet to your betslip.
Depositing Money
DraftKings Sportsbook accepts payments from Visa and MasterCard credit cards, Visa, MasterCard and American Express debit cards, payments from online bank accounts linked through the Trustly platform, PayPal, ACH eChecks, Play+ cards, bank wire transfers, DraftKings prepaid gift cards and cash.
The process of depositing by credit cards and PayPal is just like making an online purchase because you’re essentially purchasing Sportsbook credits. Enter your card or email address and your deposit will be processed once submitted.
Linking your bank account is also an option if your bank is affiliated with Trustly, a leading online payment platforms. It is connected to Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo banks and many more.

Withdrawing Money
Cash out from DraftKings through your online bank account, PayPal, VIP ACH e-check, Play+, bank wire transfer, bank check or with cash if you’re near Resorts Casino in Atlantic City. To cash out, tap on the site menu, then on My Account, then Withdraw. The amount of money in your account that is eligible for cashout is displayed at the top. Enter your desired withdrawal amount then tap Continue.

Thanks for going over the Android install. I am always warey of apps that require sideloading but it's nice to know that the app is legit and that y'all have gone through it all already.
